Exciting Palos de la Frontera in La Rabida

If holidaymakers
are interested in a tranquil vacation spot, Palos de la Frontera would
be a great choice. It is a charming village that has quaint whitewashed
homes with a well preserved ambience. Palos de la Frontera offers a very
picturesque landscape despite a booming agriculture and industry.

Local Ports

Palos
de la Frontera was a port which enjoyed the presence of the famous
explorer, Christopher Columbus who set off to discover America in 1492;
hence, it is called a cradle port. There is also an old port in Palos de
la Frontera and a dock called Muelle de las Carabelas. These were well
re-constructed with warehouses for storing goods, canteens and craft
shops.

Village offerings

The village of Palos sports a
medieval church called San Jorge where sailors were purported to have
attended the mass service before commencing their seafaring journey to
America. Hence, there is today a small nautical museum which houses many
navigational instruments used in the fateful journey.

Close by
at about 3.5 kilometers away is La Rabida’s Conjunto Monumental or the
famous Route of Columbus. There is also the famous Franciscan Santa
Maria monastery where Columbus purportedly spent a few years while
preparing for his journey before discovering a shorter route to India;
hence, his famous discovery of the America continent. This 14th century
monastery beholds a spectacular Gothic-Mudejar cloister with numerous
exhibits and seafaring documents from Columbus’ travels.

Tourists
would enjoy the three replica ships which Columbus used in his travels;
the interiors of these ship replicas are exactly that of the real ships
including the food supplies and cargo. There are also well crafted
figures of mariners at the ship replicas. One would be amazed at the
capability of these small vessels crossing the oceans during those days.

There
is another place where history buffs would be able to get more of
Columbus’ travels; Sala de Exposicion exhibits 15th century information
about Columbus’ shorter sea route discovery to India through the
Atlantic Ocean with audio-visuals.Palos also has Foro Iberoamericano
which is a large auditorium that can seat 4,000 people; it was built to
commemorate the 500th anniversary of discovering America.

Tranquil offerings

Tourists and nature lovers would enjoy a leisure stroll through Jose Celetino Mutis Botanical Park and costa brava ferienhaus .
This is a very well maintained botanical garden with numerous Latin
American flora and a lake that has plenty of water plants. There is also
an outdoor museum which showcases various sculptures.

Club Villamar offers hundreds of miles of beautiful beaches, rich cultural history and ferienwohnung spanien is by far the most popular holiday destination.

Tranquil Beaches at Huelva
There are many wonderful beaches
in Huelva which are worth a visit. It is not surprising to have
thousands of tourists flocking to Huelva every weekend throughout the
year for a great time at the beaches for some fun in the sun.

Punta Umbria beach

This
is a lovely beach between Ria de Huelva and the Atlantic Ocean. It is
wide and clean with fine golden sand. It has the coveted Blue Flag award
for top quality on cleanliness and amenities. It is very close to
Laguna del Portil, Marismas del Odiel and Enebrales Punta Umbria. These
are protected natural environments; the Laguna is a lake that is home to
a large big population and other protected species like the chameleon.
Marismas is a natural park of large wetlands that is well preserved with
17,754 acres for thousands of migratory feathered species. Enebrales is
29,652 acres wide lush juniper forest.

Inhabitants

The
inhabitants of Punta Umbria are varied from ancient times; the
Phoenicians, Romans and Greeks left their cultural influences with many
ancient monuments. There are Roman remains which depicted the local
fishermen’s homes and salted fish production in the 2nd to 5th
centuries. The British also arrived in the 19th century to set up a
mining company called Rio Tinto before making Punta Umbria a beach
resort.

Punta Umbria may be very quiet during winter but it is
packed with tourists during summer. There are plenty of water sports
offered such as surfing and sailing. Its local fishing port is the
largest in the region with fresh daily sea catches.

Nuevo Portil beach

The
Nuevo Portil beach lies with Cartaya community. It is situated close to
El Portil which is part of Punta Umbria but the distinction is very
blur. Nuevo Portil beach, costa brava ferienhaus
has huge sand banks surrounded by junipers and pines. Its location at
the foot of a huge rock allows one to enjoy a most panoramic sighting of
the Atlantic Ocean.Nuevo Portil is slowly being urbanized with luxury
hotels and holiday apartments to cater to the growing number of tourists
coming in every year.

Hotels with golf courses and a myriad of
water sports are built to the delight of tourists who want lots of
activities while on holiday. However, the urbanization is carefully
monitored to avoid over development that brings on detrimental
effects.Currently, Nuevo Portil is an ideal holiday choice for those who
want a tranquil vacation without too much crowd.

Club Villamar offers hundreds of miles of beautiful beaches, rich cultural history and ferienhäuser spanien is by far the most popular holiday destination.

Famous Flamenco in Spain
One of the greatest attractions
in Spain is the Flamenco. It is considered an art and culture rather
than a dance or song. It comes in 3 forms: the song or Cante; the dance
or Baile; the guitar playing music or Guitarra.Gypsies are thought to be
the original founders of Flamenco with popular Andalusia songs and
dances formed. However, the different cultures and influences of various
past epochs may have also influenced the Flamenco in Spain.

Historical Flamenco

There
are only 200 years of information on the Flamenco’s origins in Spain.
Flamenco which comprises the song, dance and guitar music became famous
during the 18th century. A lot of flamenco history before then was by
word of mouth through generations. One known fact about the Spanish
flamenco is that it did originate in Andalusia; its music and playing
instruments were subtly modified through the 8th to 10th centuries under
the Arab, Jews and Christian influences.

The gypsies soon turn the flamenco into a hybrid musical art. Flamenco schools soon sprouted up from 1765 to 1860 in Cadiz, ferienhaus costa brava, Triana and Jerez. The Flamenco dances became famous as they got
established in the ballrooms. Many Flamenco performances at first were
more vocal with rhythmical hand clapping called the toque de palmas.
Innovative composers add on creative guitar playing music to add
fullness to the flamenco. The flamenco became popular in music cafés
during the Golden Age; more serious expressive forms came on with a
climax soon after at many functions.

New century flamenco

After
the Golden age, between 1910 and 1955, the Flamenco was made more
famous with the ópera flamenco singing; this was accompanied by soother
music like the fandangos.South American influences also set in with
cantes de ida y vuelta music choices.Flamenco presentations were in a
greater demand on an international basis after 1915. There was some
Flamenco Renaissance in 1955 with the great flamenco performer Antonio
Mairena at the lead with outstanding soloists and dancers.

Soon,
flamenco made its way to great theatres as well as famous concert
houses from the cafés. Many flamenco presentations today use the guitar
instead of being an accompaniment or prelude. Although the mass media
played an important role in introducing the Flamenco to the world, this
art is still very much an intimate music form which is available in a
flamenco party or juerga where a small group might just fill the air
with the voice and guitar in south of Spain.

Club Villamar offers hundreds of miles of beautiful beaches, rich cultural history and ferienhaus spanien is by far the most popular holiday destination.

The Quaint Resort Town Of Salobrena
Salobrena is a quaint little resort town located along the Costa Tropical of Granada. The old quarter of the town has been very well-preserved and you can still see the old houses built along the side of the hill. The roads are very narrow and steep which is very reminiscent of the old Spanish towns in the past. Upon reaching the top of the hill on Salobrena, you will come upon the beautiful Moorish Castle which is an ancient structure that was built in the 12th century and is flanked on three sides by a steep and rocky cliff. From the top of the hill, you also get a spectacular view of the beautiful coast of the Costa Tropical and the Sierra Nevada in the horizon.

The structure of the ancient castle is still quite sturdy and they even allow the visitors to walk around in some portions of the castle. Before the castle was built, a fort stood on that same hill and according to the legends of the locals the fort was used as a prison for the 3 daughters of Emir Mohammed. The fort was primarily built to serve as a summer home for the kings of the Moors. A short distance down from the hill is the Nuestra Senora del Rosario which is an ancient church built in the 16th century. It was built on the same site where the old mosque stood. Tourists visit the church to view its famous tower and doorway.

Tourists who want to get more information about the rich history of Salobrena may visit the Museo Magnifico located at the Salobrena town hall. There you will see lots of artefacts and displays about the history of Salobrena. The beach of Salobrena is also quite famous among the visiting tourists. It is divided into two parts due to the El Penon which is a huge headland that sits in the middle of the Salobrena Beach, ferienhaus an der costa brava. The El Penon served as a prison during the Roman times. In recent years, the locals have created a man-made reef near the headland to help propagate a huge diversity of marine life in the area. At present, a lot of tourists visit Salobrena to enjoy some diving or snorkelling because of the abundance of marine life in the area.

First timers may take some diving lessons from the certified diving instructors at the Hotel Salobrena. The hotel also rents out diving equipment to tourists. Popular local fiestas include the Fiesta of the Virgen del Rosario which is celebrated in October to honour their patron saint. In July, the Virgen del Carmen procession is held where the statue is taken on a procession from La Caleta and then placed on a boat for a fluvial procession with a fireworks display finale.

About the Author

Club Villamar offers hundreds of miles of beautiful beaches, rich cultural history and ferienwohnung in spanien is by far the most popular holiday destination.
